Sammich's stitchings (updated!)

Post by Sammich »

Thought I'd show off some of the projects I've been working on. :D
I've been cross stitching about a month now and I seem to have a problem with finishing projects... I keep coming across new great things I want to make and drop the others.

The first game-related project I finished was this Dr. Mario one using the patterns in this thread.
I'm proudly displaying it on my door at the moment.

Then I started a biiiig project: the opening screen of Super Mario Bros. 2. I'm planning on doing this one and the character selection screen so I can turn them into pillow covers. I haven't progressed very far yet, really need to start working on it instead of being distracted by other things.

The following two are for a big Zelda and Sonic fan; the hylian crest and a game select screen from Sonic 3.

The tips on this forum have helped a lot, the stitches in the latest photo don't look anywhere near as messy. :D

It appears we have the same problem, Sammich.

But they all are looking great. :D

I've been doing quite some stitching and actually finishing projects this time (most of it not video game related funny enough...), so here's a small update:

This one's an Ocarina of Time bookmark I made for my boyfriend, the pattern is self-made:

I also finished the Hylian Crest in the previous post!

Next up is a Minecraft creeper, I made the pattern for this one too. It's really tiny!

This tiny shy-guy was made mostly to get rid of some leftover fabric, turns out this is one of the few game sprites in existence that's only 15 pixels high.

Then there's this tiny Aperture Science logo I intend to turn into a magnet (the fuzzy green stuff is a T-Rex plush :P ):

I've been working on the Super Mario Bros. 2 start-up screen but it's hard to stay interested in something so full of the same colour, so boring!

They look great, but how do you stop them fraying?

The aida I have is so stiff it doesn't fray unless you apply a lot of force to it, which is quite handy. :D It helps to remove a few threads around the edges though, just in case, or to remove all of them like I did for the bookmark.
I've not found a use for most of these (aside from the bookmark) though, so I'll probably apply some transparent glue to the edges once I've figured out what to do with every patch.
