Re: Mario Bros III Baby Blanket WIP

Sorry for the belated update. I meant to do this days ago, but fell ill, then had to go help parents remodel after I recovered. >.<

I haven't made very much progress on it, or so it looks, but it sure felt like a lot. I decided that for the logo part, I would just have the "3" with the shadow because it was a lot less work than trying to pick through a really bad pattern of the "Super Mario Bros." title. I started on the checkboard flooring and then started one of the smaller blocks when I got bored of doing that.

I've decided that the large areas of sky, and the white space around the bricks, is going to be done kind of blackwork-esque style, because it will take less thread/be more interesting/take less time.

Anyways, I've decided to start putting the updates for this project on my new blog: codeAndStitch.com (whenever it bothers to work properly). I guess I'll post in here with a link whenever I make an update. :)

For the time being, here are a couple update photos! :peach

I can't wait to see more on this!

I'm also curious as to how you are going to stitch across the boxes of the blanket. I have one more blanket like that, and have been wishing it was one big box without the borders between!

I was thinking of cross-hatching the borders with black so they look more "sprite"-like. My biggest concern is going to be what to do with the area outside of the blocks. I'm trying to decide if I want to needlework at that, or just use some quilt blocks to cover it up. I'm going to end up putting the whole thing on top of cotton padding, on top of a big block of fabric to make it more quilt-y (and not have the back of my stitching show).

That is looking awesome! :good:

My cousin's wife is expecting and I keep thinking of making a baby blanket for them. We spent many summer vacation playing the NES together.

Neat ideas! Make sure to update so I can figure out what to do on my last blanket!

So I haven't gotten to work on this in over a month due to school. I guess it's going to end up being for whatever baby comes after I make it. :/

I did decide that I am going to embroidery the blocks up (each with a sprite and mosaic tile background), then cut the smaller blocks off and sew them to a piece of soft fabric. This way I can ultimately make a bigger, possibly toddler size, quilt from the embroidered pieces and

In place of the blanket, I'm going to embroider some onesies with the goomba pattern that I saw on someone else's thread and I also found her a copy of "Baby's First Mythos". When I do finally get to start working on this again, I will post more updates. :)
