This is my new favorite thing. My wife and I realized this amazing connection between 8-bit and cross-stitch last year, and I finally got her working on a few projects. The first was a bookmark of four of the original Final Fantasy characters.

I love it.

I asked her if I could start stitching, but she said no, she'll do the stitching, I'm just in charge of giving her ideas.

Then I found your forums! Now, I've got too many ideas!

Ooh, how'd you/she do the edging of the patches?

We backed each of the aida cloth pieces with some plain cotton that was fused to some interfacing (for strength) and then satin stitched the edges in a machine. (Just set the stitch width as wide as you can and then change the stitch length to really small, like a button hole and go around twice.)
