Final Fantasy IV Stitch [WIP] 40ish% complete... I think

Post by Lightwarrior »

Hello all,

I'm new to the board but have been perusing the blog for a few days now. I've loved a lot of what I've seen and it's inspired me to try some cross stitching of my own.
I haven't done any in years so I'm a little excited to try it out again.

Here's what I plan on doing:

Printed pattern.

I think the final measurement is going to be 13in"x12"(35cm x 31cm) or so. I'm going to start with blue fabric so it's not as daunting as it looks. I'm picking up my supplies tomorrow so I hope to have some pictures early next week.

Edit: Actually when I went to pick up my cloth they were out of the 18 Aida, so I opted for the 14. The woman recommended the 14 because it's my first time anyways and I wanted to start that day so I just got it. It's goin to be a few inches bigger because of it too :)

Current status:
Day 3:
I wasn't going to do any on this today, but I got the itch for some reason. I think I'm a little addicted. I didn't do much, but I'm finally getting to shape out some of the windows. I'm looking forward to doing more. I had the pattern below the cloth so it may look a little strange in the picture.

Previous updates:
Day 1:
Spoiler
All right, I got my supplies today and got to work. Here's 2-3 hours of it. I'll also show the pattern I printed off and taped together.

Day 2:
Spoiler
Here's a picture of what I did in the morning, and a picture of where I finished up for the night. After working on it on and off all day, I think I'll call it a night on this :) I'm enjoying it so far, but getting my thread knotted causing me to have to break it is getting frustrating when it happens.

I also re-counted the first line a good dozen times to make sure I didn't screw it up. I'm confident that I have the number right. I'm glad I noticed before going too far, but I thought the first line I was doign was going to be the border across the top.. only to find out that I put it on the shorter side of the canvas so I changed it to the right hand side. Then I noticed that the right hand border had a few blocks missing so what I had completed became the left side. Quite confusing, but I have it all sorted out properly now :)

On to the pics!

Ambitious! But it will look awesome when you finish. Definitely a good idea to get blue canvas I think ;)

I have only played FFIV on the DS, but it's been very fun.
Current Projects: Legend of Zelda Magnet Set, Mario Kart coasters (50% done - Mario and Peach finished, Yoshi and Luigi or Toad pending)
Finished Projects: Assorted Coasters, Mega Man 2 Robot Master Magnets, Angry Birds Magnets

Very cool! I definitely second getting some navy blue aida. That background would be a nightmare to do

OMG So much blue! I love FFIV (I still prefer FFVI but i love the story of this one)

Just asking like that, it's been a while since i played, but isn't supposed to be "White Mage" and "Summoner" instead of White Wiz and Caller?
Sorry about my english, french is my primary language!

The orignal SNES game had the names different because of the character restriction on the names I beleive. I took screenshots directly from the game when making my pattern :)

It's been a while since I updated so I thought I would.
I'm working on it slowly, but it's coming along.

I hope to have the Time window finished pretty soon and start on the rest of the border.

I'm trying to get this done by November so I'm kicking it into high gear.

I don't think I'm going to get this done by November. I wanted to finish it for an art show someone I know is having.

Pretty cool so far. I'd say don't worry about getting it done by November, deadlines suck anyway : P
