I have found myself incapable of enough consistency to satisfy my perfectionism when using cloth, so I am inclined to use plastic full time, but I am not quite sure what thread count to use. Yours look so good, I figure if I just copy what you're doing it might work for me! :)
Thank you! That's sweet!

When I first started using plastic canvas, I tried using 3 threads, but I ended up having to tug and pull on the needle so hard that the canvas got warped (basically it looked like ~~~~~~~ from the side). So I decided to use 2 thread, and that works great for me (I use ONE thread of metallic and ONE thread of silk because they are a bit thicker). You will notice with two threads that when you hold it up, you can see specks of color & light (from whatever is behind the stitch e.g. the wall, t.v., etc.) through the holes you've already stitched through, BUT this goes away whenever it is placed directly on any color background. So as long as you don't plan on suspending your stitches from the middle of the ceiling, 2 threads is your best option. (You can look at my Duck Hunt piece witch was taken against an orange background & notice that this is true, and you really can't see the holes anymore). Does that make sense? I feel like I'm talking jibberish.
Makes sense PRS - I can see what you mean with the Duck Hunt piece, but it's truly negligible, especially once you put something behind it. I also should have asked - is that 14 count plastic? I think part of my problem is also that I pull my stitches way too taut, so they don't look as full. Seems like my Xs are always skinnier than everyone else's and it shows a lot more canvas behind, but I guess I also haven't exactly had much practice either :) Thanks for the tips!
Current Projects: Legend of Zelda Magnet Set, Mario Kart coasters (50% done - Mario and Peach finished, Yoshi and Luigi or Toad pending)

It is 14 count plastic. I wish they made a 16 or 18 count, but I don't think they do. You'll want to make sure you don't pull too hard or you'll end up with the ~~~~ thing I was talking about when I used 3 threads. You don't have to be gentle about it or anything, but don't strangle the plastic either. :P

You'll get the hang of it pretty quickly I think. If you can decipher my jibberish you can do anything! :) Let me know if you have any other questions or anything.

I don't know if you'd be willing to share, but I'd LOVE a pattern of your Aegis. I'm currently working on a Persona 4 cross stitch (I also use plastic canvas and once I have more than an outline of Chia's hair, I'll post it here), but I just finished playing The Answer for Persona 3, so I've spent much time with Aegis recently.

Love your work!

Thank you so much!

The sprite that I used can be found here http://probertson.livejournal.com/24349.html. His site is NSFW, but that link should be safe since it's just the Persona 3 characters. If you want a pattern pattern I can try to figure out how to do that for you. I just ran it through PCStitch Pro (which you can download a free version of, you just can't save your patterns... no big deal).

I can't wait to see what you're working on for P4. That's my boyfriend's favorite in the series, so I might have to snag that pattern from you!

[[If you want an actual pattern, someone teach me how to do that pleeeease]]

Thank you for the image link. I'll be able to pull that together. I just use KG Chart and just import images, tweaking for size and sometimes combining similar colors. It's a pretty intuitive program. Here's a good Sprite Stitch guide to how to make your own patterns: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=475

But, thanks for the image. Once I get a little more headway on my Persona 4 project, I'll post pictures and pattern, if it turns out looking right. =)
