I, too, also recently started with punch needle. My first finish is a pokemon. It is a lot of fun! Can't wait to see more!

It actually uses quite a bit of floss compared to a cross stitch of the same size.
It's good that floss is relatively cheap. =]

Where does one learn how to "punchneedle?" Do these come in kits??

Yep. The first one I did was a kit I got from Michaels of an owl.
Basically you just need the punch needle and a high count fabric.
If you start out with a kit (mine was Dimensions), they have really good instructions and tips. =]
