It took all day! Probably 8 or 9 hours.It was fun to make and the time went by quickly, going to make a few more of different characters. It went faster than cross stitch would have and I was able to do the pattern more closely to the actual picture of the pokemon.

That's super cute. I've never understood how punch needle works, but maybe it's worth trying for those projects that look good "fuzzy."

Hmmm, I wonder if this would work for t-shirts? Never done puchneedle, but this would look adorable for stuff for my one year old nephew. ^_^

It wouldn't work on t-shirts unless you use a super strong glue.
It unravels really easily.

You could probably iron wonder-under to the back to hold it in place. Fusible interfacing might work too. Nothing is impossible, just have to figure out the best possible option. What I would do is try something small on a scrap piece of material, trying either wonder-under or fusible interfacing, wash them in the washer and see what happens. The worst case is it doesn't work, the best is you can nephew a t-shirt!
