Sprite Stitch Board!

G'day, I'm trying this but I'm stuck. I've finished the cross stitch and cutout my 2 pieces of plastic but I can't figure out the stitch you used to join the pieces. I can't figures out how many threads of the floss you used and how the stitch went.

I'm so close to finishing,

for the bomb man figure i used two threads. the pac man pins three or four i think.

the needle through a hole on one piece and up through the equivalent hole on the other piece. then up through the next hole.
you should now have something like this. a diagonal between the stitches. then go behind the diagonal to lock the pieces more tight together. then on to the next hole. but i suggest you experiment. i don't know if the technique i use have a name or if there is someone better. i guess there is haha
just cut two small pieces of plastic canvas with no stitching on them and try to join them together with a needle and a thread

i think that's how i do... i just looked at the bomb man picture and got somewhat unsure...

Thanks a bunch for the pictures, they helped. I had used all 6 threads and went around the piece twice (which made it very hard to get this much thread into the holes). You can see in the pic I also missed a couple holes I should have thread in but all-in-all I'm pretty pleased with the first attempt and he's sitting proudly on my wall-of-geek at work. Thanks again for the guide I'll now start on a complete pac-man set.

the difficult thing (as you might noticed ) is to do the corners... looks exactly the same hihi
i think i did two or three tries before i was happy with the result, but it's still not perfect.
after i posted the pics here i took a black marker pen and painted the visible withe plastic canvas black, but the result was so-so.
i've been thinking to buy a matte black spray can and paint the whole piece black before i start stitch next time.

Spray paint! That's a great idea. This stuff call Krylon Fusion is made specifically for painting plastic and it apparently works great. Link. Should be able to spray a whole sheet. I'll try it today and let you know.

So, I tried making a magnet for the first time today on the plastic canvas. I made sure that my stitching on the back wasn't too bad. And I bought the magnetic tape so the magnet just sticks right on the back of the stitching but it doesn't seem to be a strong enough magnet to work if I covered it up with a layer of the plastic. Do you think it would be fine if I just left it with the stitching showing on the back? Also, I cut to a row beyond where I stitched but I'm not sure whether I want to cover the edges with floss. Partly because I'm not sure how it would work on some areas of the design and also because I'm lazy. What do people think? Is it a big faux pas to not cover the edging and the back?
