So this is my first project, and I probably should've gone with something smaller, but I figured I'd go big. I'm gonna try and give it at least 2 hours a day of work, and hopefully I can finish it by October, but we'll see.

Just started it today, so I think I'm making decent progress. I definitely underestimated how much time this thing is actually going to take though.

**UPDATE** Ignore all that up there. I had worked on it for a few days, and all the black started to drive me insane so I stopped working on it. I started the whole thing over a few days ago on black cloth. Must say, much more pleasant experience. Here's what I've got so far.

I must say that I admire your ambition for choosing a project of that size for a first project, good luck with it

Also, what aida cloth size are you using?

But yeah, you're gonna hate black. You should dye your cloth black or find it aida that big in black cause it's gonna make you hate life.

Updated the first post. Started the whole thing over on black cloth because I couldn't stand stitching all the black on white cloth.

Nice, very nice. I just started messing around with stitching this last week, have one pretty nasty goomba shoe mario done, and last night I did this very Old Man. 'cept I forgot his hands, and it was on off-white backing with off-white floss for his skin and white for his beard, so the whole thing was quite unsatisfying. Glad to see you're having more success, even if it does shoot down any originality I would have in doing this very scene later. You win! Good luck!
