Mystery 16-bit WIP!
----
So, uh... hi.
I'm nesdude, and I stumbled on this forum a few weeks ago when Kotaku linked the Megaman Rush Crochet hat. I've never been a craft guy, but going over previous postings of the cross stitch stuff, I figured I'd give it a shot. My mother is a huge craft person (used to own her own scrapbook store a few years ago), so I borrowed some of her supplies and got to work messing around making video game sprites into something real and tangible!
My first little design thing, Airman and Mega Man. The colors are wrong because that's the closest I could get, but I still like it. 14 count aida, I started with 2 strands of floss, but the top most tornado has 3 strands and I like the look much more, even if it's a little harder to work with (it likes to tangle more). I finished this over a few evenings, and wanted to get started on another project, as this was just a test run to see if I enjoyed cross stitching.
A pair of magnets for the rap duo The Adventures of Duane and Brando. Why? I dunno, I found the sprites and wanted to experiment with making a magnet using plastic canvas, and I'm really, really happy with how they turned out. There's two pieces of canvas to each magnet, the main design is on the top piece, then I attached a second piece with the border stitching to hide the back stitches and so if the magnet falls off, it doesn't rip off the stitches on the backside with it. These also took way longer than I thought they would, 6-8 hours for each one
I dunno what I'm going to start on next, but rest assured I'll post updates and stuff. Never thought I'd actually start cross stitching, but it's a very enjoyable and rewarding craft. And, you know, adding video games to anything makes it so much better!
