I'm new to stitching. what do you think?

Hey everyone. I came across this site about a month ago actually using stumbleupon and there hasn't been a day since that I haven't come to look at patterns and other people's work. You all have some amazing talent. I cross stitched a little when I was young but I never actually finished anything. So I decided to start over now. I got a few patterns from the forums here and then also made my own pattern based on a design I saw here that didn't have a pattern (at least not that I could find lol, I'm still new to the site).
here's a quick little magnet I finished in a set of 6 I plan on doing.
and this is a bookmark I'm working on for my boyfriend.
it's the "peek a boo" "peek a chu" bookmark from the february challenge. I couldn't find the pattern so I made my own. What do you all think?

Looking good so far! Welcome
Just a little tip: if you make all your crosses in the same direction, it will look a lot more even and (I think) better.

I think what I was trying to go for was each row was opposite. But that didn't work so well. I'll definitely work on it. Thanks!

Yeah, if you keep all the stitches the same way, it makes it look a little smoother. I do like your mushroom!
Welcome btw, and those pictures aren't too big. It's the ones that don't fit on a 1680x1050 res that are a wee bit on the large size.

I finished the bookmark. Definitely not the best of work, I didn't plan out well enough. But I think for my first project ever it's decent! I'm definitely going to keep stitching. I love this site.
