Mega Man v. Elec Man (DONE!)

Just started today. I'm highly motivated to document every other stitch... but I figure I'll start with this and if I do more tonight, I'll post a picture at the end. For posterity's sake.
In addition, I only have a few of the colors needed (four of the 12 I believe), so it's eventually going to hit a stand-still until I get around to getting what I need (especially that baby-poo greenish-gold background. That'll kill my desire to stitch haha).
This is what I'm going for.
Edit (2 June): I'm done! (More detailed update at the end of the thread.) Here's the pattern:
And here's the finished product:

Good luck! Hope you find all the colors you need, and not run into any trouble.

Thanks! I was all ambitious and was going to be posting hourly updates.... haha. But I decided to do a quick one from earlier this evening with the iPhone (I've stitched about 2hr since; MM is done as well as the zig zag line on his front side).
I'm a bit concerned about the coloring. I didn't pay attention and just went with what some stitching program told me to get, so I got my floss in today and I think I'm only going to be able to use two of the colors (instead of 8 of them

). But I'm just wearing out the black for now.

Cool, I look forward to seeing this one as I did something similar a coupla years ago.
Looking good so far, keep at it!

Man, I'm loving the background/colors so much better than what I've chosen... Oh well.
Might you still have the floss numbers you used for Mega Man's outfit? I was going to use 995 (dark) and 3846 (light), but 996 seems to be very similar to 3846. (DMC floss, that is.)

Here's my evening progress. I'll do a bit more in the next 30 min, but I'll be sitting in bed. So no more pics.
Off topic @Lady Cooper: I really wanted to quote MC Frontalot's "I hate your blog" when I saw your blog name. But now I'm trying to convince my hubby that he needs to try a maple beer with the brewing kit I bought for him.

Sorry but no, I didn't even know there was a game stitching community till quite a while after I'd done this and was a complete noob to embroidery.
The way I worked out the colours I needed was by printing out a copy of the scene I was going to stitch and taking it into my local craft shop, I still do all of my work by eye rather than using a program to work out the colours for me, I think the colours generally end up bolder for it and look more in keeping with the whole being projected through an old tv look.
Wish I could be of more help, but sadly my bag of threads is still a mess from the early days of my stitching, I should really get round to sorting it out.
Your black work is looking lovely.
Maybe try using this as a guide

Thanks, that looks pretty awesome!
What I'm currently doing: I cut/paste from the picture I originally posted (which I obtained from spriters-resource.com) and move the selection of color (via Photoshop) to the options shown here:
http://www.xstitchtreasures.com/DMCFloss-RGBvalues.html. I then see if I have the color, and if so, I hold it up to the monitor next to the color with a good light to illuminate the floss. So far the website's been pretty spot-on with colors (I've tried with a few others I've got, though I won't use them for this one). In fact, the RGB values are generally closest to the colors too.
I'm gonna compare the colors I've chosen with your page as well; should be happening in the next hour or so. I've got very little black left.

Well, I think I've hit my limit for now. I only have white left (that is, it's the only color I already have that still needs to be done), but that doesn't show up so well via iPhone photos. I'm taking pics with my camera, but I'll deal with those when it's all done.
I went with a different color than intended for Elec's outfit (the pink), and it looks great. The lights in our house are rather dull, which makes it looks almost dreadful in this picture.
So here's the last pic for at least a few days/week or so. Right now I can't order anything from the States (Eyjafjallwha?) and I can't get to the nearest (45min drive) arts and craft store til at least Thursday. ebay.de is threadbare as well (*rimshot*).
