Princess Zelda

Post by sirinth »

I just finished my latest project. This pattern was designed by me, based on the Official Super Smash Brothers art.

(I can't seem to iron out the hoop rings... sigh.)

Completed project is pictured stitched with 2 threads half stitched over 28 count evenweave. It took approximately 27 hours of stitching to complete. Nevermind how long it took to design!

I don't see much video game stitches involving backstitching and/or beading, so I wanted to give it a shot.
Here's some close ups for detail:

I'm super proud of how this pattern came out, and am offering it on Etsy for those interested.

But mainly, I just want to hear your feedback.
Do you like it? Is there something I could have done differently? Lighter backstitching on the dress, maybe? Less backstitching on the gloves? Tell me what you think!

I think this is very beautiful. I love that you added beads.
Just a suggestion for the hoop rings... did you get it wet? If you get it really wet and lay it down flat to dry the hoop rings should come out. See the Techniques and Guides section under Ironing and Blocking for more info.
But really, this looks great! The frame looks good too. :)

Wow! This is amazing! Looks like something you would find packaged as a kit!

I think my only comment would be that the lower part of the dress looks a bit plain compared to the rest of it. I think I would have done some backstitching around the "banner" on her dress as well, just to make it look like the rest.

I did wash it with a mild liquid soap and cold water, and ironed it. I then repeated this process once it had dried, hoping to sort out the hoop marks. No such luck. :(

Kareesh: I actually did try outlining her banner! And it just looked... I dunno, odd. Fake, almost. I forgot to take a picture at that stage, or I'd show you. :(
I know what you mean, though. Her bust definitely has a lot more backstitching than the dress itself.

As my spouse noted: "This is the kind of thing you put up as a religious icon." :wiz

The detail is phenomenal. It would have been fantastic without beads and metallic thread; with them it's omgwtfbbq awesome.

I do wonder how she'd look with her eyes mirrored, though.

She'd probably just look cross eyed. o.o

I was going off the Smash Bros art, where she's kinda looking off to the left, so I dunno.

And now, I kinda want to build an altar around it with candles and * due to his comment... hmmm

Her. not him; New York didn't have the gay marriages when we were living there, so we had to be differently sexed. :P

I love it! I really enjoy back stitching and making patterns with back stitching. I have a character in mind (Nina from Breath of Fire) that you have inspired me to stitch in a similar fashion. How did you manage to make such a detailed image into such a simple pattern (I mean the regular xstitches not your back stitching or bead work)?
