EveningEmma wrote:Needle size would depend on the fabric you're using. I think most people (or at least I am) are using 18ct aida. Personally, for 18ct, I use a size 28 tapestry needle and two strands of thread. You could probably get away with using one strand, but two gives complete coverage of the fabric.
As for the hoop, like Annelotje said, I just use a smaller one and move it around. If you wanted to you could always get a scroll frame that'd hold all your fabric. I tried using one for this project, but I found it to heavy to hold in my lap.
Thanks! :D

Nice going Annelotje!

I have no idea what kind/size needle I use, I got it with a stitching-packet a few years ago and this is still my favorite needle. I don't use a hoop and 2 strands of floss so it covers well on the 18ct Aida...

Great work guys! I don't know my needle size either, but I'm using 18ct, 2 strands and a frame. I was using a large embroidery hoop, but then I got lots of gift vouchers for Hobbycraft for my birthday and bought some frames. This is the frame I'm using (below), it's the biggest one I could put together and it's still too small!!!

Wow!! At this rate your going to finish before me!! You work crazy fast!! :wiz How many hours have you put in?! I'm currently on 364 hours!! I wanna see if I'm slow/fast/average at stitching! Cos if I'm slacking I better pick up the pace!!
But I can't do anymore till I get a replacement laptop charger! But as soon as I get one...I'm back in the game!!

It's hard to tell at this point because we both work so differently! XD; It's fairly easy to tell how far I've gotten though because I go by the pages. (which isn't entirely reliable seeing as every 5th page isn't even half of a normal one, oh well~) I just added up my hours listed on deviantart and I got 468 hours. ...wow...does this mean I have no life? lol I don't think you're slacking, you're pretty damn far!
Why do you need a replacement laptop charger to work on your cross stitch? :O

Candycorn: The needle size I have is 22. It is a 'sharp end Chenille'. It slips through the holes like butter, very nice! =,D and I've only stabbed myself twice! XD lol I'm using two strands and the hoop I'm using is the biggest one I could find at Michael's Arts & Crafts, 16" by 27" -- it's a standing hoop. Unfortunately, it's only big enough to show about 2 and 1/2 rows (there are 6 rows in all). Plenty wide though!

468 hours?? Well...you're further than me in hours put in! But you will definatly finish before me, as it looks like you have all the colours you need, where I buy 1 or 2 colours at a time and use them up as thats all I can afford!! :cray: If I could I would have done it like you! But Ive worked a few hours on it today!! I got my replacement charger for my laptop! :yahoo: And the reason I had to wait is that I dont have a printer, so I couldnt get a paper copy, so I use my laptop for the pattern...(and that way I can watch stuff on the other half of the screen! )
