I haven't been crying, but I've definitely been doing a lot of thinking. It's strange, for me at least, that a celebrity's death would effect me so much, but I think part of it has to do with it being a suicide. Still putting my thoughts in order. I get a strange feeling every time I think about it. I try not to dwell on it for too long or else I feel very anxious. :-/

I have been fighting back tears (not successfully in most cases) since I heard about it. I thought watching Mrs. Doubtfire might cheer me up...then he popped out of the fridge "Helloooo!!!" and I just broke down and bawled like a baby for ten minutes. I am so devastated by his death. I honestly feel like I've lost an old friend. He made so many people so happy and it's a shame that inner torment got the best of him. He is definitely going to be terribly missed. :cray:

Robin Williams will be missed. I watched him on Mork and Mindy. I saw him on David Letterman when he would come on the show. He would be funny and I would laugh. I watched the show The Crazy Ones that he recently did. It is sad the way his life ended by suicide.

Not exactly (though it's tragic, don't get me wrong), but I have been contemplative, mostly because my uncle was killed on Monday (same day as Robin Williams, ironically enough) in an accident during a charity cross-country motorcycle trip (the Black Dog Ride, maybe other Aussies have heard of it?), campaigning against and raising awareness of men's depression and suicide.

He was sort of my hero, using humor to hid depression has been my MO as long as I remember. His movies have been a huge part of my life, I'm really struggling with a lot right now, it's all just very surreal.

It seems it's affecting people strongly. I think that's partly due to him being such a funny dude. People think "oh, he's laughing and joking, he must be fine" but it's quite often not the case (especially with comedians).
He was also a big part of childhood for many. I watched Mork and Mindy when I was little too, and saw him in loads of movies as I grew up. My favourite is Patch Adams, and Jumanji is always fun.
It's sad that even though he brought laughter and joy to so many, that he couldn't get past his own inner darkness. He will be missed.

The irony of that is tragic indeed. My condolences to you and your family, Ally.

Thanks, ladies. We're good, but it's rough seeing my aunty and cousins so sad, especially since Aunty Rhonda has been with Uncle Les since she was fifteen. The upside of it, if you can call it an upside, has been all the lovely things that have been said about him. He was on the front page of the newspaper, first story on the local news, and today the riders who were doing the east-west run of the trip (Uncle Les was doing the west-east) came into town today, led my by cousins on their bikes, and the turnout was incredible. I didn't know him well, despite knowing him my whole life, but he was a good man. He drove me to my school ball in an old-school Camaro!
