@rockinwithrammstein, that really sucks. But like you said, at least you have a diagnosis and you know what the problem is. Is there no other way of treating your condition?

@Knitty-Kitty-Crafts, it's terrible when people say they'll help but when it actually comes down to it they magically have some other engagement or thing happening. I would mention it to the president if you haven't already, and get them to make some sort of official statement or something. I'm interested, though - what's the event you had planned? And I realise I'm not exactly local, but if there's anything I can do to help, I'd be glad to. That applies to any group anyone's part of! :D

BMH: I don't know why they're sending me away for treatment, so I don't even know what my options are. The only medicines you can't get here on post are narcotics. So something tells me that there's a bit more to this and that's why I have to go to a specialist. If the Army would pay specialists more money to work on post, I think we'd have more resources, but what are you going to do? :sigh:

RMDC: As for carpooling, I have uh...not been the most social person here because my encounters with people have almost all been negative lol It's a bunch of bored housewives in the middle of nowhere, and because I don't leave my house very often, I've been the subject of gossip--a LOT. Living here is like living in high school.

Ouch. I know how that is - there was a Navy air base where I grew up, and I saw a lot of that kind of backbiting and infighting (though more often from the dudes).

@BlackMageHeart: It was a pool night. We asked for people to do the door and a 50/50 draw. That's it. I actually bailed out because I was so * off and frankly, I'd rather be spending my time on a report I had for work for the DRUG USERS who will appreciate it more. :/ The president knows about it and complains to me about it, too. Then does the same thing every time: plans to bring it up, when we get to the actual meeting, basically rolls over with "oh" and such type of answers. Doesn't actually put her bite to her bark I hear. And if things came up, that'd be cool, but when people don't even bother to respond, that's what rubs me. You've been tagged, no excuses. Facebook told you to come look. 9_9

@rocking - They thought I might have that for a bit but I didn't... instead I was diagnosed with IBS (i.e. your stomach and intestines hate you for no reason). What you have could be more serious depending on where/how bad it is so while it's a pain, make sure you do see a specialist at least once to get more information.

@Knitty - that's a common problem with committees/groups. Not everyone participates at the same level (or at all). We have that issue at work too... So you are not alone.

*deep sigh* It seems that I can't catch a break. I've been going through some personal crud that's been majorly stressing me out and trying to be very supportive of a handful of dear friends who've gotten really bad medical news (as well as an extra helping of family drama.) So I haven't been sleeping much but I just woke up from a 2 hour nap to my bathroom flooding. This needed repair issue had been reported 2-3 months ago but you have to get a lawyer to twist slumlord's (insert creative body part) to get anything partly fixed. The building manager doesn't help and the plumbing isn't to code so there are no emergency shut off valves. It's 5 am now I'm drenched, freezing, mad beyond belief, bailing water, praying it doesn't reach my computer cords, and in serious want of a shot of tequila despite the fact that I might have a drink once every 2 years. I have a suspicion that he'll try to stick us with huge water bill despite having it included in rent. *growl/sigh* Sorry I needed to vent before I put my hand through the wall despite my better judgement. I hope you all are warm, dry and having an easier time. I think I'll have that drink now...

Sheesh Remy, you seem to have hit the motherlode of problems... I am so sorry :( but as long as you have written evidence that you reported the problem with your water ages ago, I'm sure you would have legal recourse if they do try to pin the water bill on you. I hope things get better soon!

Having dealt with floods that were the landlord's fault, you have my deep sympathies! And it sounds like it couldn't have come at a worse time. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Aw, Remy, I know it's not looking up now, but surely things will get better! I have always believed that life is like a pendulum and that it can only swing one way so far before it has to come back.

Well the leak just finally got fixed. It seems the landlord really didn't care because the building is being sold. I am a little worried to see if the person interested is going to be willing to fix any of the problems with this pos place but oh well. On the friends' side: words of comfort and support have been hard to come by for me. So I've held their hands and offered a shoulder till the phone calls end and then I let myself cry privately. I just don't know what to say to them that I haven't already said. Besides what do you say to someone who has an aggressive terminal disease other than I love you and I'm here for you? *sigh* Anywho thank you all for letting me decompress before I lose it. I hope everyone is having a wonderful day.
