Know what sucks? Not being able to afford a "free" birthday meal because you don't have enough money for the tax and tip...

Re: Venting Thread, or FML!
I'm sorry, Philpepe. That stinks. I've been there way too often.
I want to apologize for being absent lately. I've had the flu since Friday, and before that I've just been struggling. I'm stuck at home all the time without a car, and I've just been depressed and lonely. I kind of shut down when I get like that. I've been stressed about money too, and that isn't helping. I just want everyone to know that I really do love Sprite Stitch, and I feel like a jerk whenever I disappear for a bit, being a mod and blogger. And the Pen Pal organizer. Please be patient with me. I'm trying.

Starrley, I don't think anyone faults you for taking time off. Stress happens and if you have to take some time to keep yourself happy, that's what you need to do
That being said, my inbox is ALWAYS open and that goes for anyone on here. This is the first and only forum I've ever felt welcomed, so I figure the least I can do is pay it forward.

Agreed! Do what you need to do to take care of yourself Starrley! We will be here when you are ready. I know all too well the stressing about money thing as my hubby and I are doing it right now with bills that are outrageously high and a car that needs inspected, etc... Stress sucks in general and when it's about money it's always worse... I hope you get better soon!

Re: Venting Thread, or FML!
Not really a vent per say, but an amusing story, that's kinda a FML...
Yesterday my furnace started making this really weird sound. Like, a huge thumping sound, like there was something inside it. Oookay...great, just what I need. So I turn it off and wait for a bit, thinking maybe it might settle down somewhere it can't hurt anything. Turn the furnace back on and it's still there. Fine. Guess I'll just call maintenance. So I call them and they say they'll send someone over. I decide to leave it off, just in case it's something that might end up breaking the thing (something I don't need with the super cold and a 2-year-old).
While I'm waiting for the guy to come, I hear another weird sound. Again, it's coming from the furnace that is now turned off. I go and listen to it, and it sounds like something trying to gnaw its way out. Freaks me out. I go and wake up my husband and tell him. He bangs on it, but I freak out 'cause I hear it, but he doesn't. Tells me to wait for maintenance and goes back to bed.
Finally the guy shows up. Takes a look at it, tells me some stuff that's making the noise and goes and gets some stuff to fix it. He comes back and goes to work on it. A few minutes later he comes out. "You were right. There is something living in there. I think it's a squirrel."
Fan-tas-tic.
So he calls another guy (the "squirrel expert") and it takes them 30-40 minutes to catch the thing. Half that time was spent just trying to get the thing out of the flue/furnace, and the rest of the time it was running wild in my bathroom. Of course, my daughter and I get to listen to the whole thing on the other side of the door.
Thankfully, the squirrel was caught alive and let outside. Apparently the cap thingie on my flue is gone (probably due to the blizzards) and that's how he fell in. And now my furnace is running without any strange sounds.
tl;dr - Squirrel in furnace = long day for Kareesh.
