Stick in there Berry.
It sounds like your mom is unhappy and taking out a lot of her stress on you. My mother and I used to do this a lot. After I got out of undergrad I moved back home and was miserable and we tore into each other a lot. I I was able to live at home two other times without the drama we had before so it can get better.

Ditto that. We need to have an Iowa meetup. I'd be happy to host but I think I also live the farthest away from you two. I'm leaving town next week to visit family but I'll be back in town shortly after the New Year. I'll PM both of you my email address so we can arrange things.

That sucks, Berry. It's such a shame when people fight over things like this. My mum and my sister have similar arguments living together because they just have different personalities, but I'm sure they'd get along fine if they didn't live in the same house.

Don't let her get to you - you shouldn't feel guilty for wanting to live somewhere you like, and just because you work from home doesn't make your job any less hard work than hers. Only you can truly know if you are working hard (and I suspect you are, otherwise you wouldn't be so upset at her!) so just ignore anyone who says otherwise. I know it's difficult, but your own opinion of yourself is more important than anyone elses.

I hope things calm down for you soon

Nah, not really, the laptop already made it here a week before the projected date. The only unusual thing is the small grey car that has been parked outside my house for 2 days.

Berry: when I don't know what to say, I won't say anything. Instead I would like to send you a virtual hug <3

Berry, I'm so sorry you have to put up with that. I know how hard it is living with family you can't get along with well. What I've been learning recently is that you sometimes have to put yourself first no matter what. My therapist has been teaching me the importance of that lately. You need to be kinder to yourself, that's what she says to me. And that's what I will say to you! You aren't lazy - working at home is still working. I bet a lot of people wish they could do that, even if it's not a dream job. It brings in money that you need to live on and hopefully pay off debts or whatever.
You probably need to sit your mom down and tell her all the things that are bothering you. If you can work it out then great, if not then I say mom or not she deserves the boot. You can't suffer just because it's family, I've learned that.
In the meantime, much love and hugs to you and well done for getting it off your chest :)

BAH. I was hoping for tales with explosions and shotguns and things. Or at least that you caught the dude/gal red-handed. I'm interested in this car, though. ;)

thanks everyone :) my mom and i are better now. my mom and i are really close and i do enjoy living with her most days. lol. it just sucks sometimes b/c were so much alike that it causes fights sometimes. i've also been really stressed at work cuz i have an idiot supervisor who i haven't talked to in almost 2 months and isnt giving me my monthly scorecard that reflects how i'm doing. i haven't gotten one since august so thats been stressing me out and luckily my mom does listen to my bitching at work and i think that day she had a really bad day at work with her coworkers. one of them told her she was a bitch the other called her bossy.

in other news things are looking up i'm hoping. I got a new job :) I'll be working at Iowa State University as a custodian like my mom except I'll be cleaning classrooms and my mom cleans a resident hall. i'm so excited :yahoo: i'm hoping it will relieve a lot of the stress that i'm having right now.

thanks everyone for caring. i'm so happy i stumbled across this website last year. :D

I also work at ISU (small world!) so if you ever need a coffee break maybe we can catch up and share stories about some of the crazy things we've witnessed on campus.
Spoiler
I would also encourage you to explore your health benefits to the fullest (campus benefits tend to be awesome) and consider talking with someone about your stress if it's covered.

Holy cow, a can of molies! (In my best imitation of my two year old)

So I'm deeply disappointed that nothing came came of the laptop situation. I mean...everything was just too easy. I'm worried now that I'm going to be blindsided by something because of that. That's not my vent, just an update :)

So my infant has started pulling herself up to a standing position and now any time I put her to bed, it's such a struggle to get her to not do that. She's pulled herself up in the middle of the night and fallen backwards, effectively imprinting the slats of her crib into the back of her head. I tell you what, there's nothing more terrifying than a blood curdling scream to wake you up from a dead sleep at 3 in the morning.

Ugh...thank God this is a phase...

I'm glad nothing came of the laptop, but I'm oddly dissatisfied; very anticlimactic!

So, I got a call from the bank this morning. Turns out someone has my card info and has spent close to $1000!

Holy crap that is not good. I'm guessing that the bank suspected fraud and that's why they called you? What's happening next - will you get your money back and will the police be involved etc?
