Mainly so that a) Electric could have a weakness, b) something could be immune to Electric, and c) to give the first gym a 4x weakness to the "easy" starter.
At least half the credit for any party ideas goes to my wife - we were having a brainstorming session while she worked and I stitched.

There's also water in the ground, and grass too!

grass doesn't really grow.. IN the ground. it has to be on top of it.
but with caves and graveyards etc.. you could probably say dark, ghost and metal are ground type
they should change the name to "soil" type
that'd be a way better explanation =)
Ground moves usually involve mud, sand, and digging, whereas rock moves, for the most part, involve throwing rocks. I do see what you mean about them seeming similar. I really like using rock-type Pokemon. They're my second favorite type to use, after Dragon-type. My favorite Pokemon are mostly grass-type though!

great idea!
my brother just painted a tennis ball to look like a basic pokeball... and it's deadly now! It barely even bounces. just kind drops there. I'd hate to see what some little kids would do with them!
