We have a goal of getting National Park cancellation stamps at all the parks in the US (or at least one in each state!), so I'm totally envious of your travelogue, Eliste! I've never been west of the Mississippi (except for a brief foray into Texas to get to a turnaround to head back across Louisiana, and we kept the windows rolled tight and the external vents shut and our eyes screwed closed so I'm not sure that it counts :P ). I have been to Key West, which would totally be the westernmost point in the US if "west" meant "south".

Unfortunately I've been stuck in USA Other (Midwest - Indiana) all my life. I really want to travel and I also really want to move somewhere else because I hate it here but that ever elusive thing called money continues to evade my grasp. lol My hubby is very adamant about either moving back to California or to his ancestral home of Ireland. I'd be fine with either/or. lol

So, you drove into and out of Texas...with your eyes closed? Us Texans may be crazy but we do usually keep our eyes open while driving a car. Glad you didn't get into a wreck with one of our massively oversized pickup trucks. :P

Its totally not my fault and just a happy accident really. My mother used to pack my brother and I into the back of a van and go visit every living relative we ever had over the summers, and along the way we stopped at the National Parks and random places she wanted to see along the way. I really didn't appreciate it back then, but I'd kill for the opportunity to do it all again (and this time remember it). There's still a few parks that I would really love to go see that I've never made it to.

If you get all those stamps I will be seriously jealous! So worth seeing.

That's quite a climate differential! Having spent a lot of my life in the UK and putting up with its weather (and for that matter, England's weather is a little warmer than Ireland's!) I know which one I'd be aiming for!

We were actually discussing the weather here (Ireland) earlier and we realized that we didn't really have an Autumn this year. It seemed to go straight from Summer to Winter. :P

As an American who prefers cold weather and rain (again, most of my life spent in Northern U.S.), Irish weather is fine for me. In fact I couldn't imagine living in Sunny California. haha

The spot in Illinois I live in feels like it never has Fall or Spring, and we have maybe a week or two of each. Other than that your nose is freezing shut, or it's so hot you're sweating your personality right out of your pores  I'm going to agree with you and say I'd much rather take Ireland than California.

You say that. But until you've gotten used to the upside down rain that goes up your skirt and coat, you really don't get it. I know I didn't when I moved here.

Hahaha, that's precisely why I don't wear skirts. (Unless it's Summer and I've checked about 70 different weather services to see if everyone agrees there'll be no rain. haha)

Sweden all my life, except China for 6 months, if that counts.
