I can't believe i missed this thread! I would love to join in to give/get support.

My weight has been increasing again over the last few years, and i am finally going to start doing something serious about it. About 4 years ago, my marriage was falling apart, i left my now ex-husband and weighed in at 230 lbs. I actually missed out on my dream job (at the time) with the military because of my weight. So i moved into my parents basement, worked full time and payed a boat load of money for a personal trainer for a year - and at the end of it i was down to 185 ish lbs. That was mostly just working out alot, my diet remained crap most of the time because i worked at a pizza call center, in the back room of the pizza place (with free or discount pizza every shift).

I changed to a very physically demanding job shortly after ending my sessions with the trainer (couldn't continue to pay over 600$/month while paying rent), so my weight re-gain probably could have been a lot worse.

As of last monday i was at 214 lbs (and i am a towering 5'1), so i would be happy to loose about 70-80 lbs all together.

I am mostly doing workouts and dancing with my xbox 360 and xbox one kinect games (i have a serious achievement addiction problem, so it helps to keep me working out if i am getting gamerscore XD). I mostly do Your Shape, Zumba and Dance Central on my 360, but the Xbox one is where its at for their fitness app. It is basically a collection of close to 100 workout routines from people like jillian michaels and mossa, also has p90x, beachbody, 10 min solutions workouts. It is basically just workout videos, but you get a score for every set, there are challenges (like your friend got x point on this, try to do better) with progress bars, etc. The kinect tracks amazingly, and will actually tell you things like "good work" or "lift your knees higher" if you are not matching the required movements.

I am also using the pomodoro technique for time management (i only work about 6 -8 days every 2 weeks, so i have a lot of free time) so i am commiting myself to 2 or 3 pomodoros of exercise every day (about 50-75 min of actual focused/uninterupted activity).

I am hoping this, and watching what i eat (also not snacking at work - pesky kitchen jobs) will pay off in the end. I plan to weigh myself every monday morning (unless i am working monday morning, then it will be the following day that i am not on day shift).

TLDR - very short, very overweight, need some friends to inspire/keep me on track!

edit: so i hopped on the scale this morning - and i am up 7.5 lbs :S (putting me at my normal weight in the 220s, so i think my first weigh in was a very light day for me due to being sick and not eating for several days before hand).

going to work out more seriously this week and actually track food and calories burnt with mfp, hopefully i will see a negative number next week.

Welcome to our little club, samarin! I had to look up what the pomodoro technique was, but it sounds like something I could get behind. Though I would have to be super strict about the break times. I tend to take a break and then never get back to doing my project. And feel free to add me on MFP. Username is Shy422. :)

Well, today I was a bit discouraged when I stepped on the scale. I somehow gained 2.8 pounds. And here I thought I was doing pretty good. I think it must have been some of my eating choices 'cause I did 4 days of exercise (I'm shooting for 5).

Even so, I'm bound and determined that I'm going to have a better week. After discussing it with some people over at Nerd Fitness, I've decided to bump my calorie intake up to 1700 calories. I'm going to see how that goes.

On a more positive note, even though the number on the scale went up, my exercising today was pretty awesome. Normally I can only do about 15 minutes of low impact aerobics before I'm winded or just plain tired. Today I made it through 25 minutes and had to cave due to a super sore side. I was barely winded, and I was just beginning to feel tired. I also did a set of the Nerd Fitness's beginner body weight workout (BBWW for short). I now think I'm unstoppable! Bwhahahaha

Welcome samarin!

I am also on MFP, as BMH227. Feel free to add me!

I have had an odd week. I've lost 1.5lbs, but I'll be damned if I know how or where from! I've been feeling really worn out in the last few weeks so I haven't been doing any workouts, just housework and doing the school run. Need to snooze more!

I'm in the same boat. I missed 4 days of working out, and ate super unhealthy a few days. But I'm still down another 2 pounds! (2 more and I'll have lost a stone!) Hurray for random luck! Now to try to keep going. :good:

Well, I've finally lost 5 pounds overall (slowest weight loss ever...) but I'll take it. I also haven't worked out at all in the past week, but lost weight as well. My husband suggested working out probably makes you snack more or eat larger meals, so somewhat they probably balance out.

I would love to join in on this too! I am 5'9" and would like to lose approximately 100lbs. That's a lot of weight, my goals are to eat better and tomorrow me and the husband are going to look at gyms to join. I'm big on counting calories when I'm trying to lose weight (mostly it reminds me what all I have ate) and found a great app that makes it easy for my iPhone its called LIVESTRONG calorie tracker if anyone is interested. Its also a website for weight loss that ties into the app but you don't have to be on the website to have the app. It scans the barcode of the food you eat and usually automatically pulls up the info, if not you can enter it in easily enough or look up similar items by name. I like it and thought I would let you guys know about it.

GO GO Spritestitch weight loss group!!!

ETA: I saw BMH mention MFP which I assume is My fitness pal I am totally going to add you on there as I have that one too. I am rogueprincess20 on there too.

Suppose I should update here. LOL! My hubby, daughter, and I have recently (i.e. last week) started working out at Planet Fitness (a gym membership we can afford...lol) and it's been really beneficial for me (I went ever other day last week and couldn't go on Monday this week)! Along with eating pretty healthy lunches/somewhat healthy dinners and counting calories I've lost 6 1/2 pounds from last Monday to today. I get up around lunch time so I don't, normally, eat breakfast unless I'm indulging late at night which is bad for me so I'm trying not to do. :D

For that first week I did mainly cardio, trying all the different machines and just making that transition from ow, ow, ow...to hrmm, not too bad (that's why I only went every other day the first week. I had to give my legs a rest). Yesterday I did about a half hour of cardio, a half hour of fat burning on the stationary bike (which I couldn't pedal slow enough to keep my heart rate down without turning off the machine so it was more like a slower cardio since my heart rate wasn't quite high enough to count as cardio) and then did a little bit of arm strength training with some 5 pound weights. I'm very out of shape in that area so I only did a couple of sets of 15 and probably spent about 5-6 minutes total doing it but my muscles felt it nevertheless. I am planning on doing some more today, hopefully expanding my exercise number before my muscles get tired.

I also looked into that Nerd Fitness thing because it sounded really cool and a great way for a gamer to stay motivated but I can't afford that program right now so I've decided to kind of just get into that mindset anyway, that I'm a character and this is the type of character I want to be. It is definitely an interesting way to approach things. Which is funny because I actually have a friend who did play in a campaign where their characters were themselves and they had their stats and stuff and he said it was really fun.

The Academy is the only part you have to pay for. The forums and all the information he posts on the blog are free. They have quite a few workouts listed on the blog that you can do for free (such as the beginner's body weight workout). Mainly the Academy acts as a personal-trainer-esqe thingie. I myself don't do that part. I'm just active over in the forums. :)
