When I was weightlifting it was always waist, arms and neck, but right now I'm not sure which part would be best to measure to track my progress. I was thinking waist definitely, since it has disappeared somewhere, but what else would be a good indicator of fat loss?
I measure a few parts- neck, chest, waist, hips, each thigh, each calf and each upper arm. I also measure a second part of my stomach since my 'waist' doesn't change so much, but my 'belly' does. I feel like more measurements are a better indicator of progress since one week my belly won't change, but my arms or thighs will.

I measure waist, thigh, bicep, bust, and hips. My hips include my bum and I lost a lot there. Second largest next to my waist.

Can't seem to lose more than 5lbs :/ I have tried carb counting ,calories counting, and weight watchers. Nothing is working. I went to a diet specialist today to see if there was something I was doing wrong. He told me and I quote " You aren't losing weight because you're not a carnivore." He then referred to me as the same as the "fat chick on the treadmill that is drinking a protein shake and not doing anything for my body" and always put women in air quotations. I've never been so angry in my life. Plenty of people take on a vegan diet to lose weight. You can't tell me I'm fat because I'm vegan.

I think you need a different diet specialist.

And then try to fire his * ! Society doesn't need THAT as part of a weight loss/self-esteem/image journey! People have enough problems and pressures that they give themselves, not to mention others.

Thanks guys. It was his practice so I guess he can 'preach' whatever he wants. It was a free consultation so needless to say I sure as hell wont be back. The good thing is I was too angry to be upset. He told me I could successfully lose weight if I decided to eat milk and eggs. He then handed me a daily recipe guide for day 1. He wanted me to eat cheese on everything and 8 eggs. I left it on the counter as I walked out.

Ugh, that sounds like a meal for someone trying to put on weight (i.e. muscle builders) rather than lose it. Some people are just so rude.

Did he also tell you to cut carbs? If so, it sounds like he was trying to get you on Keto without explaining it fully. If that had been the case, you could, believe it or not, successfully lose weight eating cheese and eggs. But it doesn't sound like he gave you a full run down, so maybe he is just weird.

Also, if you're vegan, it would be much more difficult to eat Keto anyway. I believe it's possible, but very difficult.

I do think that's what he wanted but he was just instant on the fact that I can't be vegan. That bothered me. I wasn't about to compromise my values for a diet.

Has anyone tried a low FODMAP diet? I have IBS and it was recommended to me as a way of managing the symptoms - with a side note that it might help me lose some weight too (due to portion control and being careful what goes in the food hole). Would love to know if anyone's had any success with it, either for IBS or weight loss!
