I hope to, BMH! I really hope to! Otherwise it's bottle shop and cinema vouchers for both, and the stitches as birthday presents!
Do you want the list that I got from Floss & Mischief for the metals that correspond to the chart?

ctrl+V to the rescue!
Thank you very much for your email. I'm delighted you love our giant beetle. I'm sorry for my tardy reply - I had to return to my original design and investigate colour swapping for you.
You're a brave woman attempting this pattern with metallic thread throw in! But it does sound awesome.
I find that DMC Light Effects offers the best variety of metallic embroidery floss (and even that's slim). It tends to be the most accessible worldwide too, especially online. With that in mind, here are the DMC Light Effects colours I would suggest that you use:
• Tweed 317 with E317 Titanium
• Tweed 367, 502, 702 and 987 with E703 Light Green Emerald
• Tweed 986 with E699 Green Emerald
• Tweed 798 with E825 Blue Sapphire
• Tweed 3844 with E3849 Aquamarine Blue
• Tweed 3799 with E898 Dark Oak
• Stitch with E3852 Dark Gold as usual
Happy stitching this monster! I hope your friend loves their gift. Let us know how you get on and if you put any work-in-progress photos online.
All the best
Genevieve

Also, now that the cat's decided it's bedtime, not cuddle time..

Thanks for the list arkani! I already have all of those in my stash, so no hunting them down for me

You're welcome, BMH!
It's always nice when you don't have to go out and get more stuff to do a project

Did a heap of stitching today, as I won't get a chance tomorrow.
The bit of floss you see there? yeah, that's about 60cm long, and has 5 strands left. That's all that remains of skein #6.
Once the last bit of border and the price circle is done, I think that's the last major blocking areas of this colour!

You're really plugging away at this - it's incredible to watch it unfold!

Hee. I'm doing it in sections, and the big gaps are making things go quicker. Like i've said in another post, too - i'm working to a self made deadline, and as much as I love the whizzing noise as they go by, I do want to get this one done by then.
Thankyou though! it's pretty cool to see something on the internet, and go 'hey, i'm making this!' and then look down, and there it is!

Status report!
I didn't get a lot done tonight, as I was out doing a medical terminology course, and for the other part of today, I was the designated Kitty Kat Karrier(tm).

Kitty decided he wanted cuddle time, which turns into sleepy time. He's lucky he's so darn adorable.

Forgot to add this question, so i'm editing. Go me! How do you calculate the number of stitches in a peice? Is it simply height x width if it's a solid thing?
Because if that's how to calculate it, this thing is 30,800 stitches. o.o
