This winter I've been taking an advanced weaving class at school, and when I realized we could make terry cloth I just had to make this...

Now I'm ready for the day when the Vogons come.

How do you weave terry cloth? (I'm sure it's not the simplest thing to explain. :P )

Thank you! :)

I'll try to explain without gettin too technical and complicated. :) Do you know how regular weaving works? The basis is the same as regular weaving, with warp (the yarn that goes along the fabric) and weft (the yarn that goes from side to side in the fabric), but the fabric moves back and forth during weaving so the warp yarn creates loops. The loops then get locked into place by the following weft yarns. Did that make any sense? :)

We had warp yarn in two colours, and the pattern is created by deciding which colour goes to the front of the fabric and which goes to the back. So the pattern is mirrored and negative on the back, compared to the front.

I've done simple weaving (very simple), so that does make sense. Very cool! :D
