Disney Dreams: Beauty and the Beast FINISH! 3/2/2014

So I just got this kit for Christmas, and I am super excited about it. I guess Thomas Kinkade did a bunch of DIsney paintings and they have made 6 of them into cross stitch kits. This one is Beauty and the Beast, so here is the picture the cross stitch is based off of:

Since it is an official kit and all, I can't post the pattern but it's easy enough to find at Hobby Lobby or JoAnn's, and if you use a 50% off coupon it's only about $20, and for all the floss and everything that's not too bad. I have a little girl who will turn one next week, so I am only able to get in little bits of stitching time, so here is my progress from this last week:

I've seen these at my semi-local AC Moore - though not this exact kit - and they were on the 50% endcap already. I thought about picking one up, but I've already got a gigantic Dimensions kit which will need feeding and watering daily over the next year or so to sprout. I'll live vicariously through your posts!

Oooh, I've always wanted to do one of the Disney-Kinkades, particularly the Snow White and/or Bambi! I hadn't seen the Beauty and the Beast one, though... I have a feeling I'd want to do them all. Ah, mountains of stitching desires, stop growing!!

That's going to be so beautiful when it is finished. I saw some of those kits at Joann's the other week. Though they mostly had tons of the Peter Pan one and a couple of the Snow White kits. I think that's just a dream stitching for now. I'm working on Dimension's "Woodland Enchantress" and that is going to take me quite awhile to finish.

After 2 weeks, here is my progress! It was a crazy week but I was able to get some more sky and some of the sunset colors in.


I have come across a slight hiccup, in that since this is a kit, it comes with all of the colors (presorted in this case!) and the appropriate number of lengths for each color. However, one color (that is supposed to be Light Grey Peach) is actually definitely a dark blue. And since it isn't a DMC kit, it doesn't use DMC floss or color numbers, and since I don't have any of this color at all I can't even do a close match. I wrote to the manufacturer to find out what to do, or if they have a DMC color that they could recommend. I hope it doesn't take too long to hear back and get it all sorted out, because I'm supposed to use that color in the sky area I'm currently working on.
Still, I am thoroughly enjoying myself so far stitching this and am really happy with the progress I've made

It's looking really really good....can't wait to see it done and ive always admired these patterns...but usually they're so eXpensive. Yay for coupons! I really don't need anything else to stitch but hey my mountain is going to be everest soon!
