Re: Rhaben's Projects
I wish it was a "they". Dad died 12 years ago, but I know Mom will love this. The photo of Dad in his uniform is her favorite picture of him.
Here is an update on this project. I'm halfway done now. The maps are of places they lived after they were married, in order. I also put a number after the city. There are a few where they lived a couple of places in one state/country or moved away from and then back to later (you'll see this with SC and MD) Next up is Washington and then West Germany.

What software did you use to chart the pictures?

Re: Rhaben's Projects
I used The Gimp to tweak the photos first. I cropped and desaturated, and also removed the background. Then I imported them into KXStitch. I still had a bit to do to them, i.e. remove odd colors in odd places and in the case of the bride, I had to lighten everything.
Both of the programs are free and run on Linux. I've been using both of them for many years now.

Three quarters done with Mom's Christmas present. Just three states and one country left.

I finished the afghan today! I've been on a sprint to the finish the last few days. Here is an album where you can see close-ups of each of the panels: http://imgur.com/a/PMExA
