Aww cute.

My daughter keeps trying her hand at xstitch, but gets easily disappointed that her's don't look as good as mine (she's got a little 30 x30 stitch bear on the go on 11ct, I've got a 160 x 140 stitch on 18 ct of Armstrong....) or stitch as quickly as I can. Poor thing forgets that I was older then her when I started, so what she's got going is pretty special.

I started when I was 10... my mom suggested I try stitching a Christmas gift for my grandmother. Looking at it now, I realise had no idea I should stitch them all the same way, pull the threads tight, etc. Technically it looks awful, but it's still the one I'm the most proud of. Fortunately my mom also had a friend who was really into cross stitching, and she hooked me up with some simple patterns and gave me some floss and a hoop too. For whatever reason, she really motivated me just by helping me out. Just keep encouraging your daughter, and tell her we're rooting for her too!
I'm too poor to pwn, so I r3nt.

You can YouTube videos on how to do french knots. I had real trouble with them before. After watching a few videos, though, I got the hang of it.

I don't think french knots are anyone's friend. lol. I usually do what earth_element does and add seed beads instead of knots. I think it adds a cool 3D effect to any piece. But kudos on learning how!
