Yes! I've been thinking of doing a pokemon themed pair of pants for a little while now :D

I think I might wind up putting some interfacing on the back, though. Also, the thread got rather twisty and unwieldy. I bet there's a better way to do this.

First of all, I love your pants and this is a great idea. Would it be possible to stitch the perforated canvas badges onto the patches before you patched the pants? Then you'd have less to stitch through. Or would it be harder to patch the pants that way?

The patches I used are iron-on, so I doubt the canvas would hold up to the heat abuse. It was really a pain to stitch the three knee badges because of how I had to bunch up the leg above the knee to get the patched area closer to the waist opening so that I could reach in. I mostly only had to stitch through the patch - the tears were severe, so there was a lot of area where the denim wouldn't just pull back together - but I found that neither the patch nor the double-thick areas were terribly difficult to get through.

It was also difficult to gauge where to jab the needle from the inside to hit a canvas hole on the outside, but I found that I could stick the needle in from the outside, wiggle it a bit, and then pull it out to leave a small, visible needle-sized parting in the denim weave to give me a target. I imagine that applies to other projects where one might want to stitch badges to a heavy fabric.

Love the paper mechs! I've got a few of those too. Check out my 3D printed Mad Cat/Timberwolf. :)

Yeah, I just saw the thread. It's a thing of beauty! I have philosophical reasons for modeling in paper and only using found plastic objects for enhancement, but I enjoy seeing amazing things like this come out of the 3D printing phenomenon.

I'll post what papercrafts I've done when I get a chance to take photos. Stay tuned.

Figured I needed an update. The stitching post on page 1 has been expanded with the following:

A Commander Keen / Dopefish for my brother-in-law. The Galactic Standard beneath reads "Just Keep Swimming".

Bring Your Alien Baby to Work Day (my entry to the coloring book challenge).

My contributions to the Star Trek book. Qo'noS is Johloh's pattern that I stitched and sent off; the raktajino stitch is my design and my stitching.
