Well I was asking both!

I want to play XIV but fiance is making me wait...still >.> I'm thinking of going Elezen or whatever you call Evlaans on that game. :)

And yup yup I'm a Taru! I'm on Sylph...first Fairy and then they did the merge so Sylph and some silly person had stolen my Taru's name so I had to go and make it "Swaymae" now :banghead:

Ok so...

Finished Bastok late last night:

And just finished up Windurst:

Back when we played (which was ages ago) it was on Cerebrus server. I had an Elvaan (primarily MNK) with the rare rare braided circlet hair face. (Like literally only one other char on my realm with that face!) Later I started a TaruTaru to play WHM/SMN primarily.

Yeah, hardly ever saw that face! Then again, Elvaan weren't that popular on the servers I played on. Mostly Mithra and female Humes with the ponytail!

You know I may just have to start quilting again! I'm going to have to learn to make the squares like you did! With the Windy flag and such!!

I read up on how to applique and then I talked to the local quilt shop lady before I started (her advice on some of the materials and encouragement through this has been invaluable!). I've found so long as I go slower then I it goes pretty well. I wish I was better at the bits I did by hand, like some of the faces.

Since this is a new crafty thing for me, I didn't go terribly all out on all the accouterments so there's quite a bit of fabric pen lines and measuring with my school ruler at this point.

Here's Row Two:

And Row Three:

I have row 5 and six all pinned together so I will probably get those together today. I've stitched together two of the sashing rows and have the remaining three pinned also. I still need to finish my draenai face before I can do Row Four.

Row Six:

I now need to really finish the last details of my square in row 4 so I can get it all together... and start combining squares with sashing rows.

So I've started putting it together... pulled out a couple seams to match up better.... and wow this part seems harder than the applique part. Some of that is probably that I'm just super critical. And some if it is the extra material seam allowances because I was worried about centering and being off.

But here's about half a top done:

Next time, "square" your squares first before sewing together. When you have a quilt that uses blocks you need to trim them down so they are the same size. Then when you add the sashing make sure you iron the backs of each row in a different direction, for example:

Row one - Iron --->
Row two - Iron <---
and so on.

This will allow for a much better match up of the seams.

Yeah I found the tip about how to nest the seams after my first row. I think I'm getting a bit better...

Here's the bottom two rows:

I also got the eyes and eyebrows of my draenei face done last night. Hopefully I can get the nose and lips today and start on that last row of blocks. Then its a border around the blocks and back to the quilt shop for supplies!
