Thanks for the advice. I made a light saber keychain for a friend and that was a problem I had with the blade.

You all keep piquing my interest with bead weaving, so now I'm curious. Is it anything like making bead lizards/crocodiles/etc when we were kids? Or was that just something we did where I was?

I don't think it's exactly the same. But then again I've never made 3d beaded things.

It's similar but different. Instead of weaving the string through a whole row at a time you have to attach each bead to the one below it. Then you weave the string through the whole row to keep them straight and stiff

Ohhh! So much closer to the weaving I do but with wire. (I don't use a loom)

I actually don't use wire. There's a thread most hand weavers use called Fireline. It can take the pulling and tugging while still being flexible and thin enough to run through beads multiple times.

That's what I use. But it doesn't make 3d pieces that stand up on their own...

What patterns did you use for these? And if you use crochet patterns, do you have a way of matching beads to dmc floss colors or do you just match by sight?
