Shrink Plastic Fun

Post by Clarington »

Remember Shrinky Dinks? The thin plastic you'd colour and then put in the oven and it would magically shrink before your eyes resulting in a perfectly miniaturized version of your creation? Turns out they're still awesome.

Here's my first project:

The credit for the concept goes to designer Tamara Berg and the book Shrink! Shrank! Shrunk! by Kathy Sheldon. The Link silhouette is from Sora3087 on DeviantArt.

I'm super pleased with how it turned out and already have a few more shrink plastic creations underway.

That's so cool! I've never used it myself but it always seems so magical when I've seen my friends do it.

I love shrinky dinks! Your projects are great. How big are they?

Thanks everyone!
The Link cameo is just under 1 1/2 inches and the Akatosh is 2 1/4 inches.
They are seriously fun to make.

I remember having lots of fun with shrinky dinks, but this is simply fantastic! Now I wish I knew where to get that plastic again...

Thanks Mishatu!
I found my plastic at Michaels, so it's possible that any of the major craft stores would sell it. I've only ever seen it as an end display at Michaels, so I'm not sure what section it actually gets shelved with. I've also seen it for sale on Amazon and EBay.
I hope you find some. It really is insanely fun. I still get giddy every time I'm watching something shrink.
